When the Wonder Suit Doesn’t Fit, Try Just Being Human

Last week I shared that I decided to give up coffee for 30 days. {Full disclosure} I’ve cheated a little. By day 5, I felt like someone sledgehammered me then locked me in a jail cell with toddlers. I decided for the betterment of my family, I should probably drink a little coffee to taper instead of going cold turkey. While I have been a bit of a grumpy bear, giving up coffee has allowed me to more clearly understand the true dependency […]

Quitting my Coffee Vice & Finding A New Source

This week I decided to quit drinking coffee. Considering the fact that I have lived on coffee more than food, this is epic for me. My life has orbited around it like the sun since I was 16. On the farm where I grew up, coffee was the center point of the breakfast table. In college and grad school, I traded sleep for the promise of a jolt found in my trusty Mr. Coffee pot. And, post school, I even […]

Go Find Yourself

The Texas sky hung large over me as I sat sobbing in the driveway of our new house, my body draped over my old work boxes in the trunk of the van.

Twelve years of entrepreneurship, elbow grease, and long hours were all over. And, instead of me taking the work boxes out, they took me for a whirl.

3 Powerful Ways to Overcome Fear Today

This post is in response to a 6-week international trip I recently took, starting in Israel.

“Look to your left. There are more than 300,000 rockets pointed at us right now,” he said, as we stood at the edge of Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.

I was on this trip with 29 other leaders to Israel with an organization called Israel Collective. It’s their vision to build vibrant relationships between American Christians and the people of the Holy Land.

This evening I take a flight to the adventure of a lifetime to Israel with a peacemaking organization called Israel Collective.

In this post, I share how my first night of my trip didn’t just pop my bubble, it popped my ego.

Be spiritual. But, don’t be a weirdo.

Got a question for you.

Have you ever wanted to become more deeply spiritual, but didn’t try because you were afraid you might become a weirdo? (A-hem! You know the kind… I don’t have to elaborate here.)

Or maybe you were concerned people would think you were no longer relevant.

How to Live a Miraculous Life

The topic of how to live a Spirit-centered life is one that comes throughout my posts, the Real Life Journal, and my upcoming free audio course that will go live soon on iTunes.

As a studier and liver of Jesus’ teachings, I am fully subscribed to the belief system that when we follow Jesus that miracles can be a part of our real, everyday lives.

Yes! Permission Granted to Take a Break

This morning I went to a 5:45 AM high interval intensive training class or as my sensei would call it, HIIT! (Fist bump.)

At one point in my life, I was her. But, this morning, I jiggled and jumped, breathing a little more heavily than I would like to admit.

My “warm-up” included literally kicking myself in the butt over and over again.

At first, it wasn’t that hard. My butt has grown a wee bit bigger lately, so it wasn’t too hard to reach. My heel went right up there with a nice slap.

Suddenly a thought occurred to me, “This is what my last year has felt like. I’ve been kicking myself in the butt over and over again.”
